Jugem Restaurant in downtown Monterey has always been the best sushi place I've been to in the United States. Every time I go in there with my friends we never leave disappointed.

There is a huge variety of rolls, from the normal Dragon Rolls that contain fresh avocado, tempura and unagi eel to the unique Monterey Rolls which contains nearly everything you can put inside a roll.

We always go for the Dragon Rolls (we just love the taste of unagi and tempura together) and the 12 piece sashimi, which is always sweet and fresh. The food is a bit pricey, but for some good quality sushi it is definitely worth it.

There are also a few other sushi restaurants nearby as well but the quality of their sushi or rolls just don't compare to Jugem. The atmosphere is also very contemporary and has a hip, modern LA feel to it while being located in the historic downtown Monterey area.
