Snappy Sushi Restaurant Review

Snappy Sushi is located at 144 Newbury Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Living in that neighborhood, I have to
resist the urge to stop in daily for a little takeout or for a sit.
I must state that I am a vegetarian and therefore I do not consume creatures of the deep. However, Snappy's
vegetarian options make me a happy girl.
One important aspect about Snappy is that they only use brown rice. Some people are turned off by this, but I
embrace it. Brown rice is healthy and has a hearty, nutty taste that gives the sushi a richness amidst the light
delicate essence of sushi.
Snappy is a small basement level restaurant. There are very few tables and they are all counter style. The turn
over is pretty quick, so the wait is not too long. They do a lot of takeout business as well.
My favorite item is the Italian garden battera style sushi. It is the brown sushi topped with basil oil,
avocado, cucumber, roasted red pepper and baked tomato. It is amazing! The flavors are deep and no soy sauce is
required. I sometimes lie in bed at night dreaming of this item.
Other items I usually get are inari (tofu skin stuffed with rice), avocado maki (which I sometimes have them add
cream cheese!), edamame, and miso soup.
Snappy has all the standard maki rolls, sashimi pieces and sushi that you would find at most sushi places and
the prices seem to be comparable for this style in Boston. I believe the prices were increased when they switched
to all brown rice, but it certainly will not break the bank.
The service is generally good as well. Since it is an intimate place, the servers sidle up next to you at your
seats. Each time I have ordered take out, the staff at the front has been friendly and pleasant. They have all the
free local magazines and some seats in a little waiting section against the wall and the staff continually checks
in on the status of your order.
