Wildfish Sushi Restaurant Review

Wildfish Sushi is located in Arlington Heights, IL, and it is one of the few restaurants in the area that saves suburbanite sushi lovers a trek down into the city of Chicago.

The décor is trendy and colorful, contemporary South Pacific, and feels more like a downtown joint than a typical suburban restaurant.

The food here, while a bit pricey, is fantastic. Everything is artistically presented on the plate and looks as great as it tastes. Especially good are their Caterpillar and Dirty Old Man (which tastes much better than it sounds!) maki rolls, which tend to be more fusion fare, but even basics like the Spicy Tuna rolls are always tasty as well.

Their nigiri and sashimi is always generously-sized and fresh. The Miso soup is better than any I"ve found in the city and always comes out piping hot. I haven't found any desserts that are worth the price, however, although they were still far above par.

Service at Wildfish is always hit-or-miss. On weekends, they are usually quite busy, and it sometimes can be hard to get refills on water or tea. Some of the waitresses are wonderful, but one or two that I've had were a bit rude and gave me the feeling that they wanted to rush us out of there.

The sushi chefs themselves are fairly quick, though, and I've never had to wait more than 30 minutes for food.

Whenever I sit at the sushi bar, they've always been very friendly. Normally, we end up spending between $70 - $80 on a meal for two, and neither of us usually orders alcohol. It has always been more than worth it, however.

While there may be less expensive or more traditional sushirestaurants in and around Chicago, Wildfish is still my favorite.
